Many Delhi Metro Stations Fall In Highly Disaster prone - Zone - (UNISDR).

A UN report on disaster risk reduction has said that Delhi Metro stations are in a high-risk flood and earthquake zone. The finding is based on a comprehensive risk assessment study carried out by Bangalore-based Indian Institute for Human Settlements for United Nations office on disaster risk reduction Metro has now become the lifeline of Delhi with around two million people using its services on a daily basis. According to the report, many people will die if Delhi metro gets hit by either flood or earthquake. "In terms of direct risks, more than 50 stations are located in areas of high-earthquake hazard, exposing the line to earthquakes of up to a magnitude of 8 on the Richter scale. The Metro line is exposed to high flood and earthquake risk even for short-return periods of one-10 years," The warning that many such areas are in high-risk zone.
